The magnolias around the house are starting to show themselves. If you are planning a visit this weekend for Sakura Sunday, you can expect the house to be framed by the stellata and kobus varieties. Soulangeana is trying to push through this tardy spring arrival, and very well could do it with Friday’s temps and the weekend’s sunshine. Currently, most of the flowers that are open are at the tops of the trees since our magnolia grove is pretty sheltered in the park, but they are working themselves down. These magnolias can be fleeting though (especially stellata), so you’ll want to come see them ASAP!
It will be nice to have some blooms around the site for this weekend’s festivities. The magnolias shouldn’t mind the thunderstorms on Friday too much since they’re not fully open, but the gardener certainly will.
